How is this treatment different to other iron tablets?

FERACCRU® contains ferric maltol, which is a different type of iron to others you might have taken before. This type of iron is only released and taken in when it reaches the gut wall.

The body will use the iron in FERACCRU® to make more haemoglobin and raise iron levels back to normal. This should allow you to do everyday activities to help you feel like yourself again.

How long will I need to take it for?
You will need to take FERACCRU® for as long as it takes to get your iron stores back to normal. This usually takes at least 12 weeks. Your doctor will tell you when to stop taking it, and this is usually based on blood test results.

What if I still don’t feel better after treatment, or if my symptoms return?
It usually takes at least 12 weeks to feel the results of treatment with FERACCRU® (though sometimes longer and sometimes less than that). If you don’t feel any better after this time, or if your ID/IDA symptoms start to come back, you should make an appointment with your doctor. It is better to treat ID/IDA early rather than waiting and letting it get worse.
